Great thoughts on the Social Media landscape. I can't imaging ever being an expert at this area as it is like saying you're an expert at conversation and friendship. It is a new tool that must be put into a human context and spread beyond the Web.

Great post James! I completely agree with your position on the role of social media is having in advocacy. There are many areas where new media has yet to be explored and am looking forward to the innovations that will be birthed out of this new movement. Even with Aribra.com, my vision for building communities offline through communities online is taking shape and glad you're apart of it.

Hola James!

First, thank you sincerely for including 12for12k in your thoughts. I'm continuously amazed at how passionately people have taken to it, and humbled when I see the community that's now initiating its own ideas and events (the recent #GG24 event, for example, was put together by 12for12k supporters). I think that's the way forward for definite change, and the direction 12for12k will be taking next year and beyond.

Drew is an amazing character, and what he's doing is changing the landscape of how to fight cancer and raise awareness. Like you mention, his humour is often off-the-wall but it needs to be - yes, we know cancer is a terrible disease (I've lost several family members to it). But it doesn't need to be looked at in this morbid way - and Drew is breaking down the walls of fear and doubt by his approach his supporters are an amazing collection of people.

Look forward to finding out more about Build2Sustain - it sounds like the type of project that social media was built for, and here's to it hitting the ground running and knocking everyone for six.

Cheers, fella!

Danny.
